UAM Strategic Framework (draft revised on 14 December, 2009)

1. Foreword

Being a subordinate continental union of FIM, UAM is operating under the leadership of FIM and supports the FIM Strategic Plan. Under the guidance of FIM, UAM has made the following UAM Strategic Framework, which will help to coordinate the efforts of all members of UAM in prompting motorcycle sports and touring activities in Asia.

2. Current Situation of UAM

  • UAM has 21 member federations.
  • UAM Official competitions consist of Road Racing Championships, Motocross Championship, Enduro Championships.
  • There are some touring activities in Asia, such as in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. UAM relies on the financial support of FIM.
  • UAM has set up an Asian Motorcycle Sports Institute to support relevant FMNs to organize training camps for young riders in Asia.

3. Values

UAM shares the value of FIM, namely:

3.1 Fairness, inclusion, unity and transparency guide all processes.

3.2 Professionalism and expertise are vital for its credibility.

3.3 The highest standards of health, safety and environment are essential.

3.4 Excellence is important in everything we do.

3.5 Passion and commitment by volunteers is its backbone.

4. Objectives 2020

4.1 To set up special working groups to tackle with specific issues, such as family development, organization of UAM official events and financial development.

4.2 To have more UAM official championships.

4.3 To achieve closer cooperation with motorcycle industry.

4.4 To increase close communication with various FMNs/CONUs and support FMNs to take practical measures to promote motorcycle activities.

4.5 To take maximum advantage of the expertise and financial support offered by the FIM, and to seek income generated from other sources.

4.6 To improve the way of promotion for official Asian Championships, so that more funds are generated to support the operation of these events.

4.7 To improve the image of motorcycling and motorcycle sports in Asia.

5. UAM Targets for 2015

Under the leadership of FIM and through joint efforts of all members, UAM will achieve the following targets by 2015:

5.1 To set up a Strategic Planning Implementation Committee of UAM Strategic Plan, chaired by the UAM President. (by January 30, 2010)

5.2 To increase the number of UAM members from 21 to 25 and encourage weaker FMNs to be more active in prompting motorcycle events.

5.3 In addition to Road Racing, Motocross and Enduro championships, UAM will hold Asian Trial Championships, Asian Cross-Country Rally Championships and Alternative Energy Motorcycle Events.

5.4 To organize Asian Touring Activities.

5.5 To organize at least 3 training camps annually for Asian young riders with cooperation of relevant FMNs with an aim to raise the level of Asian riders.

5.6 To guarantee a stable financial condition and ensure the smooth operation of UAM.

5.7 To set up a UAM education programme for Road Safety and Public Policy.
