ASIAN MOTORCYCLE UNION (UAM)
Formed in 1998, the Asian Motorcycling Union (UAM) is the governing body for all motorcycle sports in Asia. The UAM's mandate is to promote and develop motorcycle sports in Asia. At present, the UAM has 23 members composed of the national motorcycle federations (FMNs) of the following Asian nations: People's Republic of China,Iran, Malaysia, Macau (China), India, Taiwan, Guam,Thailand, Hongkong (China), South Korea, Kuwait, Indonesia, Mongolia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tajikistan. The sporting powers of the UAM is granted by the Federation Internationale Motocyclisme (FIM).
UAM Objectives
- To promote and develop the growth of all disciplines of motorcycle-related sports in Asia .
- To standardize the types of motorcycle racing conducted among member associations by promoting the implementation of similar race formats, race categories, and rules and regulations. This will allow for a more level playing field when the national champions from each country meet at regional championships.
- Increase interest and awareness of motorcycle sports in associations where motorsports are not the main focus.
- Encourage rider development programme among all Asian associations, with the long-term objective of cultivating a breed of Asian champions able to participate in the international arena among the various disciplines and levels of motorcycle racing.
